Christopher® string instruments have established high recognition from schools, musicians, shops, music stores in the United States and worldwide. In the Christopher workshops, only high-quality and carefully seasoned tonewoods are used. Significant investments in quality woods, aged in a controlled environment in our own manufacturing plant, has been made. The expertise in woodworking allows Concord to create and form own veneers, in order to guarantee a constant high quality of the instruments. With all our instruments we attach great importance to the right arch of back and top. A special production process enables Concord to fabricate the arch which is characteristic for Christopher instruments even with our laminated instruments. Therefore we do not use prefabricated plywoods but press the individual veneer layers into form while gluing them together. Only with this method a sufficiently strong arch can be reached.
The Christopher range covers student's instruments as well as replicas of old master instruments like our Amati and Gofriller models.
Our double basses are available in three models: Gamba, Violin and Busetto. Besides 7/8 and 3/4 sizes, we offer fractional sized double basses in 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/10. Our 7/8 basses are also available as 5 string models.

The southern Carpathians, the Transylvanian Carpathians, is home to the largest surface of virgin forests in Europe. The Carpathians not only provide the habitat for the largest European populations of brown bears, wolves, chamois and lynxes - the Carpathians are also the origin of the sought-after tonewood for making stringed instruments.
Here in Transsylvania is where our Gasparo double basses are made by hand.
Gasparo basses are named after Gasparo da Salò (or Gasparo Bertolotti; * May 20., 1540 in Salò; † April 14., 1609 in Brescia). He was a Italian violin maker and double bassist. Today, he is considered as founder of the Brescian school of violin making and the Stradivarius of the double bass.

Unlike other electric upright bass models with a solid body, the Eminence Portable Upright Bass is a real acoustic instrument. It's smaller and more compact than a standard-size acoustic upright bass. But: the acoustic body has an arched top and bottom, a bass bar and a soundpost - the same structural design as a standard-size double bass. That's why the Eminence sounds and plays like your standard-size double bass. The unamplified sound of the Eminence is great for practising in the hotel room or if you have sensitively neighbours. Played amplified, the Eminence with its acoustic body sounds like a larger acoustic double bass. The Eminence has a detachable waist extension, and an anti-rotational endpin, the Steady-Foot. That's why it stays very easy in playing position. The string length of 105 cm (= 41-1/4") and a standard-size neck deliver a familiar playing feel and an easy transition from standard-size double bass to portable upright bass.
The Eminence bass is also available with a removable neck option (Eminence RN models). It just takes some minutes to assemble or disassemble the Eminence RN. A steel dovetail joint guarantees a resistant and durable fit. An additional sturdy flight case with wheels is also available.

Since 1934, Presto strings are handmade in Gdansk/Poland. They combine more than seven decades of string making experience with latest production technologies. Our strings are designed to fulfill highest claims of quality. Only the best raw materials are used for manufacturing Presto strings.
Presto Nylonwound strings for double bass were designed back in the 1960ies to combine the unique sound of natural gut strings with the convinient properties of steel rope core strings. They have a dark and mellow, but big tone with a strong sustain. They are of comparable low tension. They are an excellent choice for jazz, rockabilly or bluegrass bass players, searching for this particular “old school” double bass sound.
The Presto Balance double bass strings are crafted with steel rope cores and wrapped with chromesteel, while the Presto Balance Cello strings are available as Tungsten and Silver versions. They break in quickly and achieve a stable tuning within a very short time.
Our Presto Balance Fractional strings for double bass were designed to meet the special needs of younger bass players: small diameters and low tension guarantee easy playabilty for fractional sized double basses.
