Description

Brunndöbra is part of the Vogtland Musikwinkel (Saxony/western Bohemia) The settlement was established in the 17th century by the settlement of numerous Protestant religious refugees (exiles) from Bohemia, who left their Bohemian homeland in the course of the Counter-Reformation. They brought their skills and abilities in violin making with them, which made the region a centre of violin making within a short time. Around 1913, 55 violin, violoncello and double bass makers were members of the Brunndöbra guild.
