Description

This bass is based on a model by Vincenzo Trusiano Panormo (*1734 † 1813). Panormo, who came from Italy, is considered one of the best English violin makers of his time. Panormo made around 20 double basses, some of which were commissioned by the double bass virtuoso Domenico Dragonetti. Panormo’s best-known model is a large instrument with deep ribs, broad shoulders and wide overhanging upper bouts, which was copied by the London music dealer Hawkes at the beginning of the 20th century and sold in quite large numbers. https://youtu.be/GPqYereVv_8?si=6skkRrZzb-Y68xUH
